Xinhua News, Shenzhen, October 26 (Reporter Zheng Xiaohong): The Guangming Brain Science and Technology Industry Innovation Center (shortened as the “Brain Innovation Center”), established under the Institute of Brain Cognition and Brain Disorders at the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SIAT), was inaugurated on October 26, 2021, at the Mingzhu Campus of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences Shenzhen College (provisional name, shortened as "Shenli") in Guangming District, Shenzhen.
According to reports, the Brain Innovation Center is jointly built by the Guangming District Government and SIAT. The project has a total investment of over 100 million yuan and provides more than 10,000 square meters of incubation space.
Centered around key challenges in the industrial transformation of brain science and brain-inspired intelligence, the Brain Innovation Center operates based on the principle of “industry poses the questions, scientists provide the answers.” It aims to establish a common-technology service platform for the brain science industry, serving the Greater Bay Area and radiating nationwide, while building an industrial development ecosystem characterized by “innovation along the way” and “agglomeration effects.”

According to Wang Liping, director of the Institute of Brain Cognition and Brain Disorders at SIAT, the Brain Innovation Center aims to integrate innovation, entrepreneurship, and venture capital into a single model, striving to become a national-level innovation hub for brain science and brain-related health industries.
Aligned with this core objective, during the first China Brain and Health Technology Industry Summit (referred to as the B30 Summit) held that day, a signing ceremony was conducted for the Guangming Science City Brain and Brain-Inspired Intelligence Industrial Park. This will lead to the establishment of the Guangming Brain and Brain-Inspired Intelligence Industrial Park (China Merchants Base), supporting the later-stage development of early-stage technology teams from the Brain Innovation Center.
The “Yitou Mental Health Technology Lab” was also inaugurated at the B30 Summit. The lab aims to promote the construction of a brain health industry ecosystem through the incubation of early diagnosis and optimal treatment technologies in the field of mental health worldwide, along with deep collaboration with capital.
It is reported that the major scientific infrastructure project—Brain Function Decoding and Simulation Facility—being constructed by SIAT in Guangming Science City, will focus on three core modules: brain decoding, brain editing, and brain simulation, becoming a vital technological force for brain science in Guangming Science City. The main structure of the facility was completed in early 2021 and is expected to be gradually put into use starting from 2023.

The inaugural China Brain and Health Technology Industry Summit brought together leading figures from science, technology, capital, and industry. Participants engaged in comprehensive discussions on the cutting-edge technologies, current development status, future trends, and industrial ecosystem building within the fields of brain science, brain technology, brain health, brain intelligence, brain disorders, and brain rehabilitation (collectively referred to as brain technology fields). The summit also explored the creation of a deeply integrated innovation model combining science, resource sharing, and capital in Guangming Science City, Shenzhen, promoting the unification of innovation, entrepreneurship, and venture capital.
The event attracted 63 well-known domestic investment institutions and 30 selected high-tech enterprises or innovative technology teams focused on brain science, brain technology, brain health, brain intelligence, brain disorders, and brain rehabilitation. They engaged in face-to-face exchanges, jointly exploring the future of industrialization.
